Privacy Policy
Dilo collects the minimum data needed to teach you Spanish. This document explains what is stored, where, and when it leaves your device.
Account information
If you create an account we store your email address and, if you provided one, your display name. We never receive your password in plain text; authentication is handled by Supabase. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive only your email address and basic profile information.
Learning data
Completed lessons, review cards, XP, streak and game scores are stored on your device first. If you have an account, this data is copied to the cloud under your account so your devices stay in sync. Without an account, no learning data ever leaves your device.
Microphone
The microphone is activated only when you press the listen button in a speaking exercise. Speech recognition runs on your device's own speech engine; no audio is sent to us or stored. If you deny microphone permission, speaking exercises are skipped automatically.
AI tutor
Messages you send to the tutor are relayed through our server to Anthropic's Claude model to generate a reply. Your messages are not used for model training. A random device-specific identifier is generated to enforce the daily message limit; it is not linked to your name or email.
Analytics and advertising
Dilo contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Your behaviour is not tracked, sold, or used to build an ad profile.
Deleting your data
You can erase on-device data at any time via Settings > Reset all data. Deleting your account also permanently deletes all of your cloud learning data; this cannot be undone.
Children's privacy
Dilo is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
